OR-- Some prefer to take US Highway 27 south from Lexington, through Somerset and Oneida. If you choose to come this way, just stay on Hwy. 27 the whole way, and just South of Oneida, look for the Scott County Food Court on the Left (Big John’s Food Mart/Gas Station with Arbys and Long John Silvers). Just past the Food Court, take a Right, cross the Railroad Bridge and make an immediate Left, so as to parallel the tracks South Bound. Go one mile and turn Right onto Airport Road. Travel about 1 mile and you’ll see the runway ahead. Take the Right Fork (staying on the pavement) to Wings Over the Big South Fork From I-40-Nashville-
Take I-40 East, to the Second Monterey Exit (Exit 301, 11 miles past Cookeville). Go left, under the interstate, and then take an immediate right turn in front of the Subway Store.
Go about 200 yards to the stop sign and turn Left.
Go 1/4 mile to the stop sign at highway 62, and take a right (East) on Highway 62.
Stay on Highway 62 East 16.5 miles to Clark Range, where you will intersect Highway 127 at the stop light. (Exxon Station and Big John's store on the Left).
Go Left (North) on Highway 127 15.3 miles, past Highland Manor Winery, (Tennessee's oldest winery, and very good, by the way), and look for signs to Historic Rugby just past "Henbo's" Store on the Right.
Turn Right onto Highway 296, and go 3.4 miles to the four way stop in Allardt. Go straight through the intersection, and you will be on Highway 52 (East). Take it through Historic Rugby, and travel on to the "T" intersection with U.S. Highway 27 just south of Robbins.
Go Left on U. S. Highway 27 When you pass the intersection with Highway 63 on the Right (At the Stop Light) and the Grand Vista Hotel on the Left, continue on Hwy. 27 approx. 4 more miles. Watch for Rail Road Tracks to join and parallel highway on the Left. At first opportunity after seeing tracks, Turn Left, cross the Railroad Bridge and make an immediate Left again, so as to parallel the tracks South Bound. Go one mile and turn Right onto Airport Road. Travel about 1 mile and you’ll see the runway ahead. Take the Right Fork (staying on the pavement) to Wings Over the Big South Fork. Approximate travel time from Nashville Airport to Wings is between 3:00 and 3:15 depending on traffic. Please note-
On the map, it may look better to stay on I-40 to Harriman and take Hwy 27 north from there, but we assure you it is not. Going through Monterey, Clark Range and Rugby will save you a full hour over going to Harriman, and is the only route used locally. Furthermore, it does not increase either the distance or time spent on secondary roads. Whether you are driving a Tractor-Trailer, RV, Sedan or Motorcycle, we promise the route depicted above really is best. You should plan between 3:00 and 3:15 hours from the Nashville Airport to Wings Over the Big South Fork depending on traffic.
