The North Tour is the perfect way to glimpse some of the most scenic portions of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. Immediately off of the Airport you enter the Big South Fork at the New River/Clear Fork Creek Confluence. This meeting of the waters is the very birth place of the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River. It's all down hill from here-until you reach the Gulf of Mexico.
The North tour features deep river gorges, pristine tributaries and spectacular rock formations. See the Blue Heron Mining Camp and Big South Fork Scenic Railroad from the air, then jump North East to the next watershed for a bonus-Spectacular Cumberland Falls.
These are all places that you will want to visit on the ground, so plan to stay an extra day or two, or come back for a week or more-You won't want to miss a bit of Big South Fork country.

Important Note: The logs and maps provided on this site are NOT to scale, they are NOT legal for navigation, they do NOT show all hazards and do NOT take the place of your own current charts and careful planning. Rising and falling terrain, isolated rugged landscapes, mountain air currents, the type and condition of your equipment and many other factors make it imperative that you do your own planning and decide what, if any, part of these routes you want to fly on any given day.
