Our Brimstone Tour flies you around and over some of the most rugged and beautiful terrain East of the Mississippi. This Tour is punctuated by sights like the historic Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary-last home of many infamous criminals-the highest railroad trestle East of the Rockies, a TVA Windmill Farm and even a reputed WWII Radar installation established to protect the secret Manhattan project. (We can neither confirm nor deny the existence of this site-you must fly over it and decide for yourself).

On this tour, you'll thrill to the sight of over 100,000 acres of working recreational land against the backdrop of both the Tennessee and Ohio River Valleys. Coal, Timber, Oil and Gas are still kings on this part of the Plateau, and Brimstone is the perfect place to learn first-hand how these industries can be conducted carefully, exist hand in hand with-and actually enhance-recreational use for the rest of us. (In fact, it is only through the extensive network of roads and trails made possible by these resources that we can access this land at all.)

So as you navigate the circumference of this amazing landscape, keep an eye out to your immediate left and begin to scout out your soon-to-be favorite trails. Then once you are back on the ground contact Brimstone Recreation or Cumberland Safari Adventure Tours for an up close and personal look at this gem of the Cumberlands-only recently opened to the public. Together they can supply you with Vehicles, Guides and equipment, rental 4-wheelers and everything you need to thoroughly enjoy the Brimstone experience. Or, if you prefer, they can simply set you up with a permit and a map, wish you luck and send you on your way. Many of us locals have lived and worked on this land for years and still haven't seen it all. It promises to be one of the highlights of your trip.

Click below for a suggested flight log and "background only" map of the Brimstone tour. Important Note: The logs and maps provided on this site are NOT to scale, they are NOT legal for navigation, they do NOT show all hazards and do NOT take the place of your own current charts and careful planning. Rising and falling terrain, isolated rugged landscapes, mountain air currents, the type and condition of your equipment and many other factors make it imperative that you do your own planning and decide what, if any, part of these routes you want to fly on any given day.
